Frutiger™ Next CD OpenType for Mac and PC (incl. Central European)
In the classic Frutiger™ typeface family, which was constantly being expanded by new weights, the stroke weights was increased by mathematical doubling. Hence, the optical contrast between weights, for example, light and roman, was larger as that between bold and ultra bold. Frutiger Next now has three styles, regular, italic and condensed, each with six weights. The weights are no longer mathematically linear, rather, based on the optical, aesthetic criteria behind the concept of the typeface. The bold weights are more concise and the typeface has an individual, not constructed, character.

The Frutiger Next CD includes also the Central European fonts in PostScript for Mac and PC. The following languages are supported on PC PS: Albanian, Croatian, Czech, Hungarian, Polish, Romanian, Slovac and Slovene. Mac PS: Czech, Estonian, Hungarian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Polish and Slovac.

Frutiger Next is a typeface family from the Platinum Collection. This series was created for the highest quality demanded by professional typography and includes complete families digitized using the newest technology, serving the specifiv needs of corporate design and similar projects.

Linotype Univers™ CD OpenType for Mac and PC
Linotype Univers™ is a completely reworked version of the original Univers Univers typeface family designed by Adrian Frutiger in 1957. After a long process of painstakingly detailed revision, Frutiger and the design staff at Linotype completed this large joint project in 1997.

The result: a brilliant and cohesive font family of 63 weights and styles including the 4 monospaced typewriter weights. All the existing weights were completely redrawn, with careful attention paid to making the proportions more consistent with each other and improving fine details such as curves and thick-to-thin stroke ratios. The family was expanded from 27 to 63 weights, providing a much larger framework to graphic designers for choosing just the right style. The bold and condensed weights were reworked for improved legibility and on-screen application. The stroke weights were revised for consistency within each face as well as in relationship to the other weights. By following Frutiger's original designs, the humanist character of the sans serif Univers now comes through more distinctly.

The systemized numbering system has also been updated. With its sturdy, clean forms Univers can facilitate an expression of cool elegance and rational competence. In fact, the strong familial relationships between all the styles and weights make it a serviceable choice for large graphic design projects that require versatility with consistency. Frutiger was successful in staying true to his initial aims; the new Linotype Univers does indeed work in longer texts as well as for display settings.

Avenir™ Next OpenType CD for Mac and PC
Adrian Frutiger has completely reworked the Avenir™ type family in close cooperation with Akira Kobayashi, Type Director at Linotype GmbH. The result is the Avenir Next with harmoniously incremented weights and matching condensed versions.

Avenir Next comes in typeface sets, Regular, Italic, Condensed and Condensed Italic, each equipped with different stem weights. All weights include true small caps and old style figures.

Avenir Next thereby now offers an optimal balance of harmony and contrast. With the addition of the condensed variants, Avenir Next represents a full-fledged contemporary grotesque, providing professional graphic designers with the greatest degree of typographical flexibility and optimal legibility.

Linotype Syntax™ CD OpenType for Mac and PC
Swiss type designer Hans Eduard Meier and Linotype began a collaboration in 1995 to produce an extensive revision and expansion of Meier's popular Syntax™ font family. The drawings Meier had done half a century earlier for the original font provided the philosophical direction for the revision. Shape alterations that had formerly been necessary for hot metal and photo-typesetting machines were discarded. Several new weights from Light to Black were added - including oldstyle figures, special x-height figures, small caps, and italics. Design details were made consistent throughout all the weights, and graceful new characters were added.

Despite its solid foundation in Renaissance letterforms, Meier's unusual approach of interpreting these forms as a monoline sans serif typeface caused the stodgier typographers to raise their eyebrows when Syntax was first released in 1968. Today, Syntax has the distinction of being not only a recognized modern classic, but also a consistent bestseller. Linotype Syntax™ was released in 2000 and is part of the Platinum Collection, a series created to serve the needs of professionals by providing the highest quality typographic solutions. With its enduring vitality and legible bearing, Syntax is a ready communicator in corporate design, graphic design, and publishing applications.

Linotype Syntax™ Serif OpenType for Mac and PC
Linotype Syntax™ Serif is the serif typeface that complements Linotype Syntax, both created by Swiss type designer Hans Eduard Meier in 2000. With this new design, Meier has at last given shape and structure to the invisible muse that inspired him in the 1950s when he conceived his monoline sans serif based on humanist or oldstyle letterforms.

The calm legibility of this workhorse text family is accented by Meier's signature of subtle dynamic movement, making it ideal for longer texts in books and magazines. Linotype Syntax Serif has six weights from light to black, with matching italics, as well as small caps and old style figures, for a total of 30 weights. It combines harmoniously with the other Syntax typefaces, Linotype Syntax™ and Linotype Syntax™ Letter.

Linotype Syntax™ Letter OpenType for Mac and PC
(has both Letter & Lapidar Text & Display for a total of 34 weights) Linotype Syntax™ Letter is reminiscent of the style of the Roman Rustic capitals and is an earthy, almost snappy companion to the other Linotype Syntax™ typefaces.

Instead of subtly expressing the rhythmic dynamism of handwritten letters, this face is more overt about its connections to writing movements, such as the lead-in and exiting terminals, and the organic branching of round strokes from main stems.

Linotype Syntax Letter was designed especially for office communications, and it does add a warmer, more personal touch to such documents - while still combining nicely with the more formal Syntax™ relatives. With six weights, their matching italics, as well as small caps and old style figures, this typeface family has a total of 24 weights.

As an extra bonus, the Linotype Syntax™ Letter CD includes ten weights of Linotype Syntax™ Lapidar , whose unique contours are modeled on the writings chiseled in stone in the second century B.C.

Sabon™ Next CD OpenType for Mac and PC
The design of Sabon Next by Jean François Porchez, a revival of a revival, was a double challenge: to try to discern Jan Tschichold´s own wishes for the original Sabon, and to interpret the complexity of a design originally made in two versions for different systems. The first was designed for use on Linotype and Monotype systems. The second version of Sabon™ was designed for Stempel handsetting, and it seems closer to a pure interpretation of Garamond without many constraints. Naturally Porchez based Sabon Next on this second version and also referred to original Garamond models, carefully improving the proportions of the existing digital Sabon while matching its alignments.

The new family includes 6 weights up to Black, Small Caps for most of the weights and Old style Figures and one Ornament font. The standard versions include revised lining figures designed a little smaller than capitals. Sabon Next is a typeface family from the Platinum Collection . This series was created for the highest quality demanded by professional typography and includes complete families digitized using the newest technology, serving the specific needs of corporate design and similar projects.

Optima™ nova CD OpenType for Mac and PC
The basic idea of Optima was to develop a typeface between a sans-serif like the Futura and a classical Roman like Bodoni, To avoid the monotony of the streight lines of an ordinary Sans-serif the stems have slightly curved out lines, typical for all Optima™ alphabets.

All Optima alphabets were new shaped and additional weights had been added, like Optima nova Titling, capital letters with special and unusual letter combinations and ligatures. Optima nova Titling is a welcomed font for headlines, logos and advertising purposes.

Optima nova is a typeface family from the Platinum Collection. This series was created for the highest quality demanded by professional typography and includes complete families digitized using the newest technology, serving the specific needs of corporate design and similar projects.

Palatino™ nova OpenType CD for Mac and PC
Palatino nova is Prof. Hermann Zapf's redesign of his own masterpiece, Palatino. The original Palatino was cut in metal by August Rosenberger at D. Stempel AG typefoundry in Frankfurt, and released in 1950. Palatino was later adapted for mechanical composition on the Linotype machine, and became one of the most-used typefaces of the 20th Century. Palatino was designed for legibility, and has open counters and carefully weighted strokes. The type was named after Giambattista Palatino, a master of calligraphy from the time of Leonardo da Vinci. Palatino is a typeface based on classical Italian Renaissance forms. A modern classic in its own right, Palatino is popular among professional graphic designers and amateurs alike, working well for both text and display typography.

Hermann Zapf and Akira Kobayashi redeveloped Palatino for the 21st Century, creating Palatino nova. Released by Linotype in 2005, the Palatino nova family is part of Linotype's Platinum Collection. Palatino nova includes several weights (Light, Regular, Medium, and Bold), each with companion italics. Four styles (Regular, Italic, Bold, and Bold Italic) have Greek and Cyrillic glyphs built into their character sets. The Palatino nova family also includes revised versions of Aldus (now called Aldus nova), as well as two titling weights. The first titling weight, Palatino nova Titling, is based on Hermann Zapf's metal typeface Michelangelo™, including Greek glyphs from Phidias Greek. The heavier titling weight, Palatino nova Imperial, is based on Sistina™.

The fonts in the Palatino nova family support all 48 Western, Central, and Eastern European languages. Additional features: ligatures and historical ligatures, Small Caps, ornaments, and a range of numerals (proportional & tabular width lining and Old style figures, fractions, inferiors, and superiors).

The Palatino™ nova OpenType CD for Mac and PC typeface belongs to the Palatino™ nova Font Family which is part of the Platinum Collection.

Vialog™ Family CD for Mac and PC
Vialog is based on a normally proportioned transportation typeface that Professor Werner Schneider designed as "Euro Type" for the German Federal Transportation Ministry in 1988. Behind its forms are comprehensive studies of the legibility of European transportation typefaces regarding their optimization and standardization. Professor Schneider worked with Helmut Ness of the design agency Fuenfwerken to give the typeface a new look.

The main idea was to create a space-saving text typeface that could be used in the challenging field of transportation and information typography, but also fulfill the requirements of a corporate typeface. In spite of the relatively robust forms, Vialog remains an aesthetic and legible typeface due to its detail and quality. It is not just technical, rather, a typeface family which meets high visual and design expectations.
